Waterfield Mortgage has earned its reputation in the secondary mortgage market as the largest private mortgage servicing operation in the nation. Waterfield was founded in 1928 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, when Richard H. Waterfield launched his company in a direction that would result in the present servicing of over $17 billion in loans for scores of institutional investors.
In the 1950's, R. H. Waterfield thought nothing of getting in his car and driving 160 miles, each way, to a mortgage lending institution to get a home loan closed as quickly as possible. Making sure that the client could purchase a home quickly and easily was just his way of doing business. That's how seriously their company's founder took the concept of customer service.
